Winter Solstice 2009 Ritual

THE TIME:
17.46pm London GMT
The chart has many aspects called the Inconjunct – a letting go aspect shown in green from the Ascendant (physical body) to Chiron, Neptune, Jupiter in Aquarius in the UK chart.

There is also another from Mars (anger and sexuality) to Mercury (communication).

Venus the planet of love and relationships is in the optimistic sign of Sagittarius. It forms positive connections with the stellium of Chiron Neptune, Jupiter and the Moon in Aquarius.

It is time for us to let go of hurts and anger with authorities so we can embrace the positive changes as shown by Uranus at the top (Midheaven) of the chart which makes a trine to the ascendant and a sextile to the North Node (destiny). Capricorn is a sign that is cardinal - meaning action -and this chart is symbolic for the next 3 months.

By walking along the path of the planets you will be partaking in a ritual with others that sets an intention for healing and committing to taking the next step toward a positive future.

LOOK UP!
If the night is clear you will see the crescent moon next to Jupiter in the sky after sunset. These are symbols of the soul greeting hope, faith and optimism in the positive future and great good fortune.

Both are in the constellation of Aquarius and the lunar mansion is called Dhanishta in Jyotish (Vedic astrology). It is ruled by the deities called the 8 Vasus (the good ones). The keywords are wealth, prosperity, optimism. The symbol is the flute, and musicality is the focus. The flute is symbolic of an empty space –the ego that has emptied itself -and Krishna, an avatar and incarnation of Vishnu, is portrayed playing the flute.

THE RITUAL
To prepare. You might like to burn incense or aromatherapy oil. I would suggest frankincense but it’s up to you to choose. Arrange 13 tea lights or candles in a line (preferably in a corridor with the lights off.) Place a keyword or choose a small object by each light to sum up the planet’s energy. You might like to play some music that has meaning for you. I like the Gladiator film track finishing with the song ‘Now We Are Free’.

At the appointed time, with intention, slowly walk this path. There are 13 steps. As you meet each candle/ tea light reflect on the quality of the planet, integrate its message and move on. This process is meant to be helpful and heaing. Letting go can be a powerful healing process. Take your time but don't get caught in taking too long! Each step is approx 1 -2 mins maximum.

First Step: FOCUS ON THE MOON
