Soulmates and Relationships
In Vedic astrology there are two charts that are looked at to understand our relationships.

They are the birth chart and the navamsha, also described as the 'fruits of the tree'. It's also the marriage and relationship chart. It's the 9th divisional chart and focuses on the 9th house concepts of spirituality and shows what we aspire to in this life.

Connections between one person's natal chart and another's navamsha chart, show a deep spiritual link between them. It's like saying 'they bring out the best in me'. They can help us become who were born to be. Its based on the division of the chart by 9. The 9th house is the most auspicious house in the chart. It's the positive karma we can call on in this lifetime.

The Sun and the Moon are the two main planets in a person's chart. They are the key factors in relationship along with the ascendant as it's how a person sees the world. Compatibility is strong when any or all of these are in the same sign, in the opposite sign, or in the same element.

When Jupiter aspects* the Sun, Moon or ascendant in the other's chart they will feel the unconditional love and blessing from the other. (*The aspect is a conjunction, opposition or trine)

Harmony between the two Venus placements is good. (a sextile or trine) And it's important that Mars, the planet that represents sexuality, makes contact in the two charts.

Jupiter is the planet that represents a husband for a woman. Venus represents his wife for a man. Where they are placed in the navamsha chart is most important. Poorly placed or aspected by malefic planets can indicate problems in relationships. The awareness of these inherent patterns along with counselling, can be most helpful in these situations.

Mars causes conflicts and in certain houses in the chart creates a yoga (union) called kuja dosha. This is a malefic yoga but mellows with age. Also if one partners a person who also has it, they cancel each other out!

(A case which proves this is true is my sister and her husband who both have this yoga and their marriage is now in its 30th year. They had fights in their early years, but plenty of passion which has lasted over time!).
