January New Moon in Capricorn

The January New Moon in Capricorn sets the tone for the month and for the year ahead

Capricorn is the last earth sign in the zodiac and has the qualities of responsible leadership. This January New Moon in Capricorn has a stellium of 6 planets in serious Capricorn.

However the good news is, there is a boost from the positive planet Jupiter, alongside Mars. That means that plans that are acted upon can succeed. One caveat- Capricorn is a steady conservative sign, and like the saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day!

 True Saturn in Capricorn Leadership

President Barack Obama– born August 4th 1961- is a prime example of this. He is a Sun sign Leo which is his playfulness, performing abilities as a star and his natural warm personality. Leo is the sign of the King, which confirms how comfortable he was when meeting royalty.

However, his rising sign is Aquarius which has Saturn as the traditional ruler. This explains his dedication to serving and supporting the common people. In his birth chart Saturn is in its own sign of Capricorn and benefits from its conjunction with Jupiter.

This accounts for his training in the law and his principles that inspired 8 years serving his country and maintaining a dignified manner- even while under massive attack from his opponents. (You can see I’m a fan! One point- If you recall his inauguration speech it was very sombre-all about working hard, so very Capricorn!)

Commitment, integrity, honour, truth are the key words for Capricorn- the sign ruled by sombre Saturn.

This new moon is perfect for setting long term goals and having a plan of action. As an earth sign its vital to write down your plans, to use this energy to build a firm foundation. Just as any builder knows, when you contruct a wall its essential to ensure the foundations are strong and long lasting. Make your Wish List.

Oak trees can live up to 1000 years old but are generally mature at 75, and live on average 150-250 years. Oak is the wood that connects with Saturn qualities.

One important take away- Saturn is the most beautiful planet. It’s the last planet we can see with the naked eye, and its rings are distinctive. It represents boundaries.

Saturn is called Lord of Karma

In astrology Saturn is called the Lord of Karma. I believe that the concept of karma can be over used. I also believe that its not fixed. That by acts of charity, by serving others and by asking for forgiveness we mitigate our past mistakes in whatever lifetime we may have caused harm to others. We all have an ancestral past.

On a final note, one aspect of Capricorn people that not many people know, is their sense of humour. This isn’t the sometimes bawdy humour of Sagittarians, but the sophisticated dry wit so beloved of the British. As Monthy Python sang- ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life’,

Saturn in Capricorn

Saturn moves into Capricorn on December 20th 2017. It’s a planet of major importance, but has a bad reputation! However Steven shares how it can be used positively. He writes:-

“Saturn is classically viewed as the “bad” planet, the “Greater Malefic.” Don’t believe it! Used correctly, its transits can bring dignity and self-respect.

Essentially, Saturn is about maturity. The part of your life that’s being touched by the Saturnian energies needs to grow up…which, despite the lies we’re all told, is not a process one mysteriously completes on one’s twenty-first birthday. There is an area of your life where you have simply outgrown yourself, at least inwardly.

The task now is to adjust your outward circumstances to reflect the maturity you’ve already attained psychically and invisibly. It is a material problem, not fundamentally a psychological one. To succeed, there is first a need to face reality squarely, even if it’s unsavory. Then to make a hard choice…that is, to reach an emotional bottom line and not be crippled by your awareness of the ambiguities in your situation.

And finally, in a spirit of commitment, persistence, and self-discipline, to claim those circumstances in your life which reflect the hard inner work you’ve been doing over the last few years.

That’s Saturn in general.”
