Tonight October 3rd 2016 at 21.56 BST Venus joins the Moon at 12 degrees Scorpio. In Shamanic astrology this opens the 3rd chakra, our solar plexus and our power centre. A Scorpio ritual is a private ritual as the Goddess is naturally aligned with the God of the Underworld.

In the news today was a disturbing story concerning the celebrity Kim Kardashian who was robbed by masked men. (Scorpio)
They put a gun to the head of the American reality television star and stole an estimated £8.7m worth of jewels from her luxury apartment. Among the jewels stolen was a €4m 15-carat diamond ring given to Kardashian West by her husband.
She has Mercury at 19 degrees Scorpio opposite Chiron in Taurus- being wounded concerning possessions. The ring would have deep emotional significance for her as any woman would understand.
This event shows that astrology always reflects events on earth. Its the hermetic principle of “As above, so below.”

Ophiuchus and the 13th Sign of the Zodiac
Interesting that the old story of Ophiuchus being the 13th sign of the zodiac has just reared its head once again. It does so every year, much to the annoyance of us astrologers. Now it seems NASA has got into the act.
The myth of Ophiuchus closely resembles Chiron.
From The Mountain Astrologer website, Arielle Guttman writes:-
“Greek myth tells us that because Asclepius was able to literally bring people back from the dead, he was killed by Zeus with a thunderbolt. Later, remorseful Zeus placed Asclepius in the sky as the image Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer. Sandwiched in between Scorpio and Sagittarius, barely touching the ecliptic, stands a giant serpent holder…a giant man in the sky, the image of Ophiuchus.
Due to Chiron’s unique orbit, distinct from the rest of the body of centaurs located beyond the orbit of Pluto, and because he was the god-father and mentor to Asclepius (Ophiuchus). I have come to proclaim Chiron as the ruler of the 13th sign.”
The difference between signs and constellations
To clarify, there is a difference between the signs of the zodiac and the constellations.
To quote from Wikipedia:
Ophiuchus is one of thirteen constellations that cross the ecliptic- the path of the Sun It has therefore been called the “13th sign of the zodiac”. However, this confuses signs with constellations.
The signs of the zodiac are a twelve-fold division of the ecliptic, so that each sign spans 30° of celestial longitude, approximately the distance the Sun travels in a month, and (in the Western tradition) are aligned with the seasons so that the March equinox always falls on the boundary between Pisces and Aries.
Constellations, on the other hand, are unequal in size and are based on the positions of the stars. The constellations of the zodiac have only a loose association with the signs of the zodiac, and do not in general coincide with them.
In Western astrology the constellation of Ophiuchus occupies most (November 29 – December 18[22]) of the sign of Sagittarius (November 23 – December 21). The differences are due to the fact that the time of year that the sun passes through a particular zodiac constellation’s position has slowly changed (because of the precession of the equinoxes) over the centuries from when the Greeks, Babylonians and others originally developed the zodiac.
However you interpret this ‘news’ its appears that healing is on the agenda. And that has to be a good sign.

PS. The Venus Moon conjunction also triggers the chart of Hilary Clinton who has Chiron at 12 degrees Scorpio and Venus close by at 16 degrees Scorpio.
Next month Venus aligns with the Moon in Sagittarius on 3rd November, and connects with the outgoing energy of Jupiter in Libra. Interesting this is just days before the US Presidential Election.
