Reclaim Your Inner Hero
This full moon on July 24th begins the month of the Sun in Leo, the most creative of the signs and the Hero archetype.
This is the first of two Full Moons in the sign of Aquarius. This one at the beginning of Aquarius, the next one on August 22 will be at the end of the sign. This Full Moon is closer to Saturn; the next will be closest to Jupiter.
Those of us with planets in Leo greet the annual arrival of the Sun on July 22nd as a boost of vitality and leadership. Leo is a fire sign that looks up to the future. Its also the most playful sign. The Sun in our birth chart is where we find our purpose. Each day we get up and ‘do’ our Sun sign.
Creative surge
At this Full Moon the Sun is in its home sign. Its time to connect with your creativity and be inspired. Leo is the gambler, the risk taker, and playfulness. Where Leo is in your birth chart will show the part of you that needs self expression and to shine your light.

At this full Moon in Aquarius, both Mars and Venus are on the Royal Star Regulus in Leo, opposite Jupiter
Leo is the lion, the King of the zodiac and it is ruled by the Sun. Leo relates to our heart, our courage (coeur) and to our leadership. Ruled by the Sun, Leo is the sign of royalty. The Sun follows a straight path in the sky and it is focused.
Leo has been represented as a lion by numerous civilizations for thousands of years. In Greek mythology it was identified as the Nemean Lion who was slain by Hercules as the first of his 12 labours. Each labour represents a sign of the zodiac. Hercules used the invincible pelt to wear as a cloak, because it could not be pierced by arrows.
Are you in need of strength?
Imagine you are receiving the cloak of confidence. What colour is it? What is the fabric? Is it velvet, fur or slipper satin?
The main star in Leo is Regulus, in the heart of the lion. It’s one of the four royal stars of Persia, known as the Guardians or Watchers of the four directions. Regulus is the Watcher of the North. Angels are sometimes called Watchers and Holy Ones. Regulus is connected to the archangel Raphael.
Mercury-The Messenger/Storyteller
Mercury, the planet of communication is now in the sign of Cancer from July 11th until July 28th when it enters Leo. Cancer is the sign of memories, of the past, of childhood. This transit will heighten feelings for all of us. Cancer is a sensitive sign so be extra patient with yourself and others. Mercury’s alignment with Neptune at the Full Moon on July 24th heralds a focus on the dream world. Creating a Vision board would be ideal to do right now. Or keep a dream journal. The dream just before you wake up can be indicative of the future.
Mercury’s message
Mercury is making a positive aspect to Neptune in a fellow water sign at this full moon in Aquarius. This only happens three times a year so is significant.
Mercury is the messenger, Neptune is the highest vibration, the angelic, the Mystic. Neptune can be our biggest disappointment, the greatest heartbreak, or can lift us up to Heaven, where we remember Home.
If, as a collective we join together, and we start to bless the situation, to recognise that life is holographic, that each part contains the whole, and that our minds are all powerful, we can change the future. Blessing rather than cursing is the solution.
Venus- The Lover and Mars- The Warrior
This month we have had a rare occurrence of Venus and Mars joining in Leo on July 12th-14th. Venus is the Goddess, Mars the Warrior. Together they are The Lovers. Focus on your inner masculine, your willpower allied with your feminine.
Jupiter: The Explorer/Teacher
Jupiter takes approx. 12 years to travel through the 12 signs. Jupiter rules the Law and it concerned with Truth. Where Jupiter is placed in your chart is where you find your Faith. Jupiter is now retrograde and continues in its traditional home sign of Pisces. It returns into Aquarius- The sign of the humanitarian- on July 28th to give a final boost- the feel good factor- to all air signs-Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. It re-enters Pisces on December 29th. Water signs then benefit-Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces next year until May 10th. Then again October 29th until December 20th 2022.
Saturn: The Strategist/Authority
Saturn takes approx. 2 and a half years to go through a sign. It is now retrograde in Aquarius, a sign it co-rules with Uranus. The theme of the year is Saturn in a tense relationship (a square) with Uranus. This is the old versus the new. Rebellion and protest marches are seen in the news on a daily basis. Which side are you on? Do you obey the rules? Or do you revolt?
Neptune: The Dreamer/Visionary
It seems so strange to be in the world right now. We are all going through a collective rebirth. The New Moon has a benevolent relationship with Neptune in Pisces. Neptune is The Hanged Man in the tarot, the most spiritual card in the deck. Neptune is the place in our birth chart that connects us to our Vision, to the ideal. In Pisces that is the 8th chakra, God the Mother. The colour is magenta, and in Aura-Soma is known as ‘love in the little things’. As the Sun illuminates Neptune on 15th July become more aware of your dreams this month. Keep a dream journal!
Uranus- The Renegade/Awakener
Uranus takes approx 7 years to go through a sign and always brings change/revolution. It is the planet that rules inventions and genius. Its now in Taurus (May 2018-April 2026 approx.) and we are witnessing a change in climate change. Taurus is ruled by Venus, and as it’s an earth sign, we are now concerned with agriculture, our food chain and an awakening to our planet’s resources. In our daily lives Uranus wants to shake thing up. Weeding is both physical and metaphorical.
At this Full Moon Uranus is making a negative contact to Saturn, which is on ongoing theme of the year.
Pluto-The Transformer/Regenerator
Pluto is the slowest moving planet and currently travelling through Capricorn from 2008 until 2024. It is the God of the Underworld and the unconscious. It is assigned to Scorpio who also have Mars as their ruler. The transit of Pluto in Capricorn calls for deconstruction of the establishment and institutions.
Each sign of the zodiac is connected to one of these archetypes.

28th Mercury enters Leo
29th Mars enters Virgo next to the bright star Regulus at sunset. The sign of the Craftsman and Healer. Mars opposite Jupiter
1st August Sun joins Mercury, so Mercury is hidden. Mercury opposite Saturn A testing time for reality and confusion around communications.
2nd Sun opposite Saturn Leadership versus Strategist
4th Mercury square Uranus. Expect the unexpected.
7th Sun square Uranus. Expect the unexpected, change of leadership?
