New Moon in Cancer is a time for nurturing
The New Moon in Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Cancer is a water sign that governs our emotions our sense of belonging and family. Its our tribe. This is a time for memories of mother, of childhood and hopefully the comfort you received back then. Its the perfect time for journalling to recall the positive memories of summer holidays. We’ve all got them or we wouldn’t have survived!
Can you recall your favourite foods, the smell of baking, of being cuddled and the soft toys you loved? Interesting that the move Barbie has just come out! This is time for self care and befriending your vulnerabilities.
The most important event is that the nodes are changing sign this month on July 13th. The nodes aren’t planets but indicate where eclipses take place. They are moving from Taurus/Scorpio to Aries/Libra as they go backwards through the zodiac. They relate to eclipses and stay in these signs for the next 18 months. Relationships are now in focus and finding the balance between peace loving Libra and fiery Aries.

Neptune has been significant since the last New Moon in Gemini. It formed a square-a tense aspect -to that New Moon along with Saturn turning retrograde. The disaster of the submersible was the tragic event that occurred. The New Moon in Gemini chart was exactly on Pluto in the chart of the sinking of the Titanic, so it was a karmic event.
Now Neptune is in a positive relationship to this New Moon in Cancer.
Neptune in Pisces
One key word for Neptune is compassion. However it can also indicate illusion, deceit, scandal, loss, drowning, a feeling of being overwhelmed and lost. If you’ve been feeling exhausted, depressed, over-burdened and with little energy then I recommend taking time out and being kind to yourself. Take comfort and know that “this too will pass”. This is especially important once Mars moves away from its opposition to Saturn and the Sun moves into Leo. Bach Flower remedies such as Elm, Sweet Chestnut and Oak may be helpful. Also for shock Rock Rose or Rescue Remedy.
Mars in Virgo is opposite Saturn in Pisces
Mars opposition to Saturn can result in delays, procrastination and the feeling that nothing is good enough. Virgo is known to be the perfectionist in the zodiac. However its also very good at detail. The exact opposition is on July 20th. This then eases after July 28th.
Saturn-Lord of Karma – entered Pisces on March 7th for the next two and a half years. This ended two and a half years of Saturn in Aquarius so comes as a welcome relief for all Aquarians and the other fixed signs of Leo and Scorpio. Water signs will now benefit as will the earth signs. It went retrograde on June 18th at the last New Moon in Gemini. It goes direct on November 4th.
Saturn gets a bad press as its nature is heavy representing gravity and reality. To work with Saturn is the key. In the Vedic system the remedy for Saturn is being of service and supporting charities through our direct involvement. Saturn rules time, so once we give of our time and effort we can reap the reward. It is also Mastery as the effort we put in makes us a master. Completion is the key.
Venus is in Leo along with Mercury
Both Venus and Mercury are in Leo, the Archetype of the King/Queen. So we have a double dose of Leo energy. Venus is currently an Evening Star- the brightest object in the sky after the Moon. It entered Leo on June 5th. It can be seen after dark as it rises higher in the night sky. Its an impressive sight. Venus is the diamond in the sky, so brighter than Jupiter.
Look to the west after sunset to see it. On July 20th the crescent Moon will join Venus in Leo the early evening sky along with Mars in Virgo. This is the most beautiful sight and in the story of Inanna it opens the 8th chakra, the Divine Feminine, the Soul Star. My teacher Lency Spezzano calls this ‘God the Mother’. This will be the last chance to see it as it goes retrograde on July 23rd and will disappear from view as it begins its journey back to join the Sun.
Time to wish upon a Star. This is important so make it count! The planet of love will be moving from Evening Star to Morning Star so we won’t see it this bright for another 18 months.

Jupiter moved into Taurus on May 16th
Jupiter the greater benefic is now direct and it moved into Taurus for an entire year on May 16th until May 26th 2024. This is wonderful news for Taurus and Scorpio. Jupiter is the planet of faith, faith in life, that life is worth living. It takes 12 years to go around the zodiac, so look back 12 years to understand its influence in your chart. It is the biggest planet in our solar system and Jupiter is Zeus, King of the Gods. It brings good luck, expansiveness and the feel good factor. It truly is the planet of abundance, especially now its in the earth sign of Taurus.
Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus, and it promotes all activities connected to the earth such as gardening, music, farming, art, material wealth and all good things on the physical plane. It promotes cleaning and using Marie Kondo’s methods of letting go of anything that doesn’t bring you joy. Taurus is also compatible with the emotional water signs of Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. Fellow earth signs Virgo and Capricorn also benefit from Jupiter’s gaze.

Chiron in Aries- the archetype of the Wounded Healer – is activated at this New Moon in Cancer as it forms a trine a flow of energy to Mercury in Leo.

- July 2oth The Moon joins Venus in Leo close to Regulus and opening the 8th Chakra.
- July 23rd Sun into Leo
- July 23rd Venus goes retrograde in Leo and Chiron goes retrograde in Aries
- July 28th Mercury enters Virgo where it is exalted until October 5th. It goes retrograde on August 24th, then direct on September 16th. On October 5th it changes sign into Libra.
Uranus in Taurus is now direct activating 18 degrees Taurus. Make some practical changes in your life and throw out anything that doesn’t bring you joy! (It went direct on January 22nd.)
Neptune The Dreamer is now retrograde. In Pisces it favours all the water signs. Watch your visions and dreams, get creative and meditate. We now have an opportunity to bring our dreams into manifestation. Trust your intuition.
Pluto is now retrograde and moved back into Capricorn on June 11th. Pluto is an outer planet and affects world events. However it becomes more personal if it connects with one of inner planets in your chart. These are the Sun, Moon, Mercury Venus and Mars. It is activated at mid-life when it makes a square to itself around the age of 38. It moved into Aquarius briefly on March 23rd until June 11th 2023. However it only transits 0 degrees 22 mins Aquarius so not a major transit.
