Pisces  20 February- 20 March (approx)

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and the most selfless of all the signs. Pisces governs the feet and is most at home living near and relaxing in water, like the symbol of the fishes.  Pisces are the day dreamers, the mystics and spend most of their time in the world of the imagination.

Pisces is the restless time of year when Spring is anticipated but has not yet arrived. The contrast with their following sign of Aries is dramatic.

Planetary Ruler and Qualities
Pisces is a mutable water sign. As the last water sign it is connected with the 12th house of the birth chart. This is akin to the womb and the collective unconscious. It’s governed by Jupiter which rules religion and Neptune which rules mysticism.

Neptune is a mysterious planet over a million miles from earth. It takes 165 years to travel through the zodiac. Neptune is the God of the Sea, the underwater world which is deep and unfathomable. Neptune governs fashion and the media, the mood of the people.

Discovered in 1846 when Romanticism was sweeping Europe, this planet represents the symphonies and ballets of Tchaikovsky, the paintings and poetry that uplifts the soul. The sea can either soothe or be savage. Pisces can get overwhelmed by emotions and head down into the depths of despair and addiction.

Neptune in our astrological birth charts shows us the highest vibration of universal love. It can be illusion and disillusion, imagination or deception, the psychic or the addict.

Relationships
Pisces are very adaptable so can appear to be all things to all people. They live through others, but can lose their identity and feel overwhelmed, especially in a group. Pisces women are soft and feminine, with an ethereal quality. The male is gypsy, the poet and extremely sensitive. Pisces can be easily hurt and often fall in love with unsuitable people. They are best suited to the other water signs, Cancer and Scorpio because they have a mutual empathy and share their sensitive feelings. Sagittarians are exciting partners whose sense of humour can lift the Piscean moodiness. Co-rued by Jupiter they share the same ideals and optimism. Fellow Pisceans are a good match. Best friends are Leos and Capricorns and there is an easy going time with Taureans and Librans.

Constellation and Myth
Pisces is the faint constellation of The Fishes. In the ancient myth Aphrodite and her son Eros were being pursued by the monster Typhon. To escape him they turned themselves into fish and swam away, but they tied their tails together so they would not be parted. This story as a metaphor reveals how the Goddess of love can transform herself to escape the monstrous. In 7BC there was a triple conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Pisces, which is said to be the Star of Bethlehem heralding the birth of Jesus Christ.

Strengths and weaknesses
Pisces are the most creative of all the signs, but there is often a price to be paid. They can suffer for their art, or go into sacrifice to help others. This is the sign of the carer, the truly charitable, the archetype of the saviour and priest.

When having fun Pisceans are to be found at the seaside, in the Art gallery, theatre, concert hall or at the movies.

Pisces need to give themselves extra time to arrive for appointments as they can easily get lost or distracted. Their forgetfulness is endearing or frustrating. They forgive others their faults with grace. They live in the world the enchantment realm where anything is possible. They are motivated in their search for wholeness and transcendence.
