2020 New Year Birth of a Decade

2020 New Year Chart

January 1st 2020 New Year Chart. Notice the lack of the element of fire. Best to wait to make New Year Resolutions until Mars changes sign on January 3rd

The chart for the New Year is an important chart to look at. The chart of a new decade is even more important. Charts are moments in time, and all countries and any events have birth charts. The Uk’s 1801 chart is set for January 1st and has 7 degrees Libra as the ascendant, with the Moon-which represents the people- at 19 degrees Cancer. The transit of Saturn all year has been opposite this Moon. In astrology that’s a tough transit that only happens every 28 years.

If you have been taking a well earned break over the Christmas holiday, then you may well have missed the Solar Eclipse on Boxing Day. Its been a highly unusual December with the unexpected landslide of the Tory Party at the Uk Election and the impeachment of President Trump in the US. The fires in Australia are alarming.

I believe its vitally important to hold a positive vision for the future and not be overwhelmed by the fear and negativity in the world. Each and every one of us can take our place and act with generosity, good humour and grace. One song that came to mind to counter balance the negativity of the Saturn Pluto conjunction is ‘Always look on the Bright Side of Life’ from the film The Life of Brian by Monty Python. You can find it on YouTube.

The Solar Eclipse was at 4 degrees Capricorn. That degree remains significant for 6 months and is activated at the New Moons in January, February and March. My focus this year is on Manifesting with the Magic of the New Moons.

Vedic Astrology View

In my video I look at various charts for January and include a Vedic view. Vedic astrology shows the planets in the actual constellations in the heavens.

1st January 2020 Vedic chart
1st January 2020 Vedic chart set for London. Notice the stellium of planets in Sagittarius ruled by Jupiter in its own sign.

Where are the Planets?

Sun in Capricorn until 20th January when it moves into the air sign of Aquarius.

Full Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse 10th January.

First New Moon of the Year in Aquarius 25th January.

Mercury is now in Capricorn until 16th January, then into Aquarius.

Venus is now in Aquarius. Venus will move into her sign of exaltation-the best sign this planet can be in- on 13th January. Watch the sky after sunset to see Venus as an Evening Star with the crescent moon on 27th/28th January.

Mars is in its ‘home’ sign of Scorpio from 19th November until 26th January 2020. Mars takes 2 years to travel around the zodiac. In Scorpio it has the courage to see beneath the surface and can delve deep into the unconscious to expose secrets and bust open taboos. It moves into Sagittarius -a fire sign- on 3rd January.

Jupiter in Capricorn for the next 12 months. Time to climb the mountain and make progress step by step. Think how the mountain goat is so agile as it climbs up and you get the idea.

Saturn in Capricorn moved forward on September 18th so plans for any projects that you have had on hold for the last 5 months now have the go ahead. Saturn and the nodes of the moon are now separating. This conjunction has been really tough and heavy over the last 5 months.

Uranus in Taurus is now retrograde and forms an alliance with Jupiter. Make some practical changes in your life and throw out anything that doesn’t bring you joy!

Neptune in Pisces is now direct on 27th November. This favours all the water signs. Watch your visions and dreams, get creative and meditate. I love the meditations with Deepak Chopra as he uses simple sanskrit mantras.

Pluto in Capricorn went direct on 3rd October. Pluto is an outer planet and affects world events. However it becomes more personal if it connects with one of inner planets in your chart. These are the Sun, Moon, Mercury Venus and Mars. It is activated at mid-life when it makes a square to itself around the age of 38.
